National Outstanding Researcher of 2016
Prof. Dr. Suchinda
Faculty of Science
Award Branches: Agriculture and Biology
Specializes in various different fields of primatology such as working in medical labs using monkeys as experimental animals or field studies on biodiversity further involving morphology, physiology, behavioral ecology and genetic characteristics of monkeys in Thailand and in Southeast Asian countries. She established the first “National Primate Research Center, Chulalongkorn University” for researching and testing vaccines for endemic diseases, emerging infectious diseases, and recurring diseases, medicines, supplements, and biological products. This is a development that leads to self-reliance for the public health of the country causing Thailand to fully make use of biodiversity in producing vaccines, drugs, and other biological products. This will reduce importation of medicines and vaccines from abroad, save budget, reduce social inequalities in accessing drugs and treatments.
