Ageing Society

Our rapidly ageing society, coupled with demographic changes, technological advances and economic crises are all affecting our work and way of life. It is therefore necessary to prepare and plan in order to avoid social problems in the future. Chulalongkorn University has brought together faculty members and researchers in related disciplines to undertake cross-disciplinary research-social, economic and technological innovations that promote the potential, health and capacity of the elderly, and ensure their health and self-reliance, in order to enhance quality of life. The findings of the research groups shed light on and help mitigate the impacts of the economic crisis on the lives and wellbeing of Thailand’s senior citizens, including the following:

  • Aging Policies Research
  • Developing prototypes to facilitate mobility for senior citizens.
  • Research into successful experiences of senior citizens in the Thai context: A focus on consciousness, function within the family and social participation of older people in society.
