Building Academic Bridges: Chula and Hirosaki University Discuss Future Partnerships
BANGKOK, March 20, 2026 – Chulalongkorn University hosted a delegation from Hirosaki University, Japan, to discuss academic cooperation in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. The meeting, which focused on joint research initiatives and student exchange programs, took place at Meeting Room 004, Chamchuri 5 Building.
Associate Professor Dr. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Assistant to the President (Research Affairs) led the Chulalongkorn delegation in welcoming Associate Professor Dr. Soichiro SHIRAISHI and Ms. Fumi KASAI from the Faculty of Humanities and Sociel Sciences, Hirosaki University. The Chula team included distinguished faculty members and researchers: Associate Professor Dr. Sutee Anantsuksomsri, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture; Assistant Professor Dr. Mathurin Leelasetakul, Assistant Dean, Dr. Puttaporn Areeprachakun, Faculty of Arts, and staff from the Research Strategy Group, the Office of Research Affairs.
The primary objective of the visit was to explore the feasibility of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. The discussions highlighted potential collaboration in faculty research and student exchange, with detailed presentations from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Architecture. Both parties exchanged insights on academic frameworks and discussed strategic directions for future joint projects.
Following the discussion, the Hirosaki University delegation embarked on a campus tour to visit key landmarks, including the Statue of King Chulalongkorn and King Vajiravudh, as well as the facilities at the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Arts. These visits aimed to foster a deeper cultural understanding and strengthen the relationship at the faculty and departmental levels.
This meeting marks a significant milestone in advancing international cooperation in Social Sciences and Humanities, paving the way for future academic excellence and innovative partnerships between Chulalongkorn and Hirosaki University.
